 I Can Write Tutorial

This tutorial will help you to learn to use the major features of the software. With a projector, you can share it with your students and show them how:


  • The software guides students through the writing process.
  • To receive helpful directions from Freddy the Frog.
  • To get help choosing a Topic.
  • To choose a writing mode.
  • To use the graphic organizers.
  • To write a first draft.
  • Revise the draft using the Six Trait Writing and the Teacher Comments feature.
  • To use the Editor's Checklist.
  • To store writing in the Electronic Portfolio.
  • To choose a print format and select a border design.
  • To use the Print Preview feature.
  • To print their writing.

 Frequently Asked Questions

Our Frequently Asked Questions page is where we share the questions that you ask most often. You will usually find the answer to your questions there.

The questions we receive from clients are:


  • Can my students use the software at home?

    Absolutely. I Can Write Online is web-based and can be used from any location with an internet connection.

  • I have logged onto the website, and some portions of the graphics and text are missing.

    Your computer may not have Macromedia Flash player, installed. You can get a free download at www.adobe.com.

  • What happens if I forget my username and password?

    There is a message on the log-in screen that allows you to retrieve your lost username and/or password.

  • What if a student loses a username and password?

    When you assign usernames and passwords initially, keep a password list on file so you can remind the student what it is.
